Grundsätze der TSC-Community
How does the study community at TSC see itself? What is its goal? How does it intend to interact with one another? The new «Community Paper,» which the study community developed in 2021, provides answers to these questions. This is what it says:
Theological education is more than just imparting knowledge.
That is why the community at TSC is so important as a spiritual fellowship in which we grow and mature together and encourage and support one another.
We are:
- We are on a spiritual journey . We see ourselves as a learning community in which we grow and mature, encouraging and supporting one another.
- We experience our interactions as both challenging and enriching. We strive to become encouraging companions to others.
- Our journey together will beLeaflet (PDF)illustrated by a tree: Rooted in the triune God and his word, the “I” can flourish and enter into relationship and communication with its fellow human beings.
Ganzheitlich lernen!
Connected to each other
Jesus Christ is the starting point and center of our community.
We want:
- Sharing life —both in our joys and our sorrows. We especially give each other space to share our experiences with God.
- Show appreciation because we know that God loves us in our diversity and uniqueness. Therefore, we treat one another with respect and love, acknowledge our strengths and weaknesses, learn to understand our motives, and practice respectful interactions with one another.
- We encourage each other by nurturing the strengths and gifts we discover among ourselves. We allow each other to make mistakes. We are willing to forgive and reconcile.
With a yes to me
In order to be a community-building part of the community, it is important to engage with yourself.
We want:
- Taking personal responsibility by respecting our personal needs, boundaries and emotions.
- Leading ourselves by developing our personalities and gifts within the community, thus serving the community. Because Jesus forgives us, we learn to forgive ourselves and consciously manage our emotions.
- Addressing needs and boundaries in order to understand each other and strengthen the well-being of each individual is essential. A dialogue characterized by openness and listening is essential for this.
Rooted in God
Our personal relationship with the triune God is rooted in him as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We want:
- Traveling together , seeking, finding, and experiencing God together. He is the preparer, companion, and goal of our journey together.
- To grow personally in our relationship with Christ and to become spiritually and emotionally mature individuals.
- Promote creativity , unfold beauty and preserve and shape God’s creation.

«Studying theology is an act of communication. I enter into conversation with God, with myself, and with other people. As a TSC community, we are a learning community and support one another.»
