Broschüre zu 180 Jahre TSC
Am 8. März 2020 ist das Theologische Seminar St. Chrischona 180 Jahre alt geworden. Welche Themen und Ereignisse haben das TSC bewegt, geprägt und vorangebracht? Was hat sich in die DNA des TSC eingeprägt und wirkt heute noch weiter? Claudius Buser, Dozent für Kirchengeschichte und stellvertretender Rektor des TSC, hat sich diesen Fragen gewidmet. Entstanden ist eine Broschüre, die den Bogen vom Gestern zum Heute spannt.
Good News

His T-shirt bears the inscription «Good News.» The cover of the brochure reflects the founding philosophy of 1840, which is still deeply rooted at tsc today: «To train young craftsmen so that they can live and spread the gospel in word and writing in a way that is understandable to the people.» It is still possible to study at tsc without a high school diploma or university entrance qualification. Craftsmen are also among today’s students.
Von den Anfängen bis heute
In the first part, Claudius Buser describes important milestones in the history of the tsc. How the educational institution at St. Chrischona originated in the context of pietistic, practical Christianity. How it developed at the end of the 19th century into the first preacher and missionary seminary in German-speaking Europe. How St. Chrischona became a pioneer in «theological education for all.» How the tsc developed further in the 20th century within the Chrischona Association under the motto «Preserve the Proven, Dare the New.» How the work at Chrischona today in the 21st century is oriented and focused «back to its roots»: training people for participation in the Kingdom of God.
Over 6,600 men and women have studied at St. Chrischona since 1840. A few graduates are featured in the brochure. They share how the tsc has shaped them and how they describe the tsc’s DNA.
Das Evangelium verständlich und leidenschaftlich kommunizieren
Die Geschichte des tsc ist durchdrungen vom Wunsch, das Evangelium verständlich und leidenschaftlich zu kommunizieren. Doch was umfasst Kommunikation eigentlich alles, wie ist sie in der Theologie zu denken, wie umfassend kann man darüber reden? Solche Fragen führten dazu, das theologische Arbeiten am tsc unter den Begriff der Kommunikativen Theologie zu stellen. Gott spricht uns Menschen an und befähigt uns zur Antwort. Kommunikative Theologie staunt über diese Möglichkeit, lernt Gottes Reden in der biblischen Botschaft kennen, versucht zu antworten und anderen zeitgemäss von dieser Botschaft zu erzählen.
Das Profil des Theologischen Seminars St. Chrischona – gewachsen in 180 Jahren
Im zweiten Teil der Broschüre benennt Claudius Buser Schwerpunkte, die aus der Geschichte erwachsen heute dem tsc sein Profil geben:
- Die Liebe Gottes treibt uns – wir glauben an die verändernde Kraft des Evangeliums.
- Aus der Schrift leben – wir trauen der Bibel und bleiben mit ihr unterwegs.
- Hoffnungsorientiertes Arbeiten – es kommt besser, als wir es je zu träumen wagen.
- Freisetzen aller Kräfte und Gaben – in Gottes Reich arbeiten Frau und Mann, Alt und Jung gemeinsam.
- Impulsgeber für andere – wir dienen allen Christen und geben Impulse des Handelns Gottes gerne weiter.
- Wir sind nicht allein unterwegs – wir arbeiten zusammen und bilden andere aus.
- Heil, Heilung und Heiligung gehören zusammen – wir setzen uns für eine ganzheitliche Spiritualität ein.
